3. Ink Repelling
Ink repelling happens when the first printed layer dries too fast and becomes too hard to accept the next color. It often results from excessive drier additives or too long a gap between print runs. To fix this, lightly wipe the surface with cotton wool or apply a printing varnish before printing additional layers. Reducing drier use can also minimize the problem.
4. Blanket Contamination
Dirty rubber blankets can seriously impact print quality. Common causes include improper ink-water balance, poorly coated paper, or fibers torn from the sheet. To prevent contamination, clean the blanket regularly with professional cleaning agents and choose properly coated paper designed for offset printing.
